To put it short. Anybody seriously using the Japanese age of consent excuse would still go to jail. Btw Fan of This Anime here. But saw it decades ago so that might have changed 😅

Something worth pointing out. Age of consent in Japan in 13.. If the partner in under 18... So technically if you're 19 you could end up in jail for having sex with a 13. Details matter & really saying "age of consent is 13" doesn't work as an excuse. So teenagers can legally have sex with a significant age gap between them. Considering teenage sex drive & Japan low birth rate, the idea of this law & ecchi Anime might just be. Get horny teens to have kids before adult life grinds it out of them
